Financial Mail ranks Brait in Top 20 South African companies

Brait SA has been ranked in 18th place in the Financial Mail’s Top 200 Companies in 2009. This means Brait is on the FM’s elite list of Top 20 winners, a considerable achievement.

The Financial Mail noted that Brait’s total dividend was up by 19% although its recurring earnings for the year to March were down 34%, largely due to the global crisis in the financial markets.

The Group was awarded a score of 58. Criteria included track record over five years; corporate governance culture; black empowerment status;  prospects for growth and whether the share “is reasonably liquid and offers value the herd may have missed”.
